Life saver hair products

In December 2015 I chopped off 15 inches of my hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust. They are a charity that provides wigs for free to little girls (and boys) suffering with cancer. I was definitely extremely nervous as I had never gone through such a big change with my hair before, and we all know how attached we get, but knowing that it was going to make someone else happy forced me to do it.

After such a huge change I needed to find new products that helped me style it and keep it looking health

1. Bumble and Bumble invisible oil – £33

So this product I was using before I had the chop but I dont think I will ever stop now. It reduces frizz, tames any fly aways, detangles and strengthens hair against breakage. I use one pump of this on wet hair and it helps detangle any knots and I honestly think this is what keeps my hair super super healthy and what has helped it grow so much.

2. Bed head small talk

This is a thickifier and energizer. It helps add thickness, texture and volume. It really helps my hair hold styling as well, again I only use one pump on wet hair.

3. Bumble and bumble dry spun -£22

This is one of the best texturising sprays I’ve ever used. Its so good for adding thickness and texture, and it smells amazing which is a bonus.

4. Bumble and bumble spray de mode – £22

This hair spray combines flexible hold, heat protection and added shine. One of the best hair sprays ive used to hold styling in my super straight hair.

5. Ojon rare tame blender – £12.50

This is my absoloute HERO product, I could NOT live without this. If you’re like me and suffer with baby hair (or flyaways) you need this in your life!! This is an oil that you comb through the flyaways and it lays them down and holds it all day along with encouraging growth. Even when my hair was long my baby hairs were crazy so when ever I had my hair in a pony tail it was never neat. This changed my life haha! The rare tame blender is also a must have for a super sleek pony!

Foundation favourites. January ’16

I have 3 favourite foundations, but I mostly only stick to one. I am so converted by this foundation and I cannot believe I hadn’t tried it sooner. I have been missing out BIG time, and if you haven’t tried it yet then so are you! And it is SMASHBOX’S STUDIO SKIN!!

Smashbox – studio skin.

The studio skin is a 15-hour wear foundation with a medium to full coverage. It is buildable but you really can get it FULL if you want to. However, it’s really lightweight which I love because I can’t feel it on my skin. It is also super hydrating and oil free (and oil controlling), meaning it’s perfect for people with both oily or dry skin. It’s a semi-matte, skin like finish. So not too shiny and not too matte, just very natural. You can either set it with powder or setting spray or leave it on its own as it is self-setting. It’s also water, sweat, humidity, and transfer resident.

What I adore about this foundation is it really is 15 hour (maybe longer). I wore this foundation whilst I was in Ibiza and I wore it day and night and when I left the clubs it looked like I had just applied it and being out in the heat it did not move or melt off, and cause it’s so light weight I didn’t feel masked or like my skin couldn’t breathe. I get so many compliments on my skin when I’m wearing this and I love that I can trust it will stay looking like this all day. I can’t really see myself moving from this foundation any time soon.

The only downfall to this foundation is that the colours are yellow undertoned so for anyone pink or neutral undertones you might struggle to find a colour match. And the darker skin tones also as they don’t have an extensive colour range, although they are rumoured to be expanding their colour range!!

This is my make up look today wearing the Smashbox Studio Skin and Candy K by Kylie Jenner liquid lipstick

Estee Lauder – double wear

I feel like this foundation will be on most people’s lists. Again this foundation is 15-hour wear but is a full coverage (according to the website medium, I disagree) with a matte finish. It is also lasts through heat, humidity and non-stop activity.

This foundation is amazing, it covers everything you want it to and more and will not budge. The colour range is brilliant and when I’m a bit paler I will sometimes turn to this. However, I don’t particularly like how matte it is and I do feel like it is heavy on my skin.  It also leaves me with a ‘flashback face’ in pictures so I do tend to avoid this on any nights out.

Make Up Forever – Ultra HD

Make Up Forever ultra HD

Ultra HD is a medium to full buildable coverage that is light-weight and long lasting. It is designed for film and TV but is good for on and off camera. I’ve only just recently tried this foundation after reading a lot of good reviews about it, and I prefer it to the Double Wear but it does for sure not beat my Smashbox Studio Skin. I LOVE how this foundation goes on, it literally glides on and sinks into the skin and you really don’t need to work it because it does it its self and the colour I’ve got is perfect for when I’m not tanned which is something I struggle with with Studio Skin, but I feel like it doesn’t last as long and does not stay flawless all day. It does get a little patchy which I don’t get with both Studio Skin and Double Wear. It does offer 40 different shades however and the shade I got matches beautifully.

So they are my three current favourite foundations although you are probably thinking I really only have one haha!

If you have any recommendations please post them down below and I will be sure to give them a try 🙂

January ’16 favourites

Hi guys, so this is my first post and I thought what better way to kick things off than by telling you what I cannot live without!!

So up until Christmas, I had been using the Smashbox Brow Tech To Go (£20) in both Brunette and Taupe (Taupe at the front of the brows and Brunette from middle to tail) and I loved it!! But my boyfriend got me the illamasqua precision brow gel (£18.50 in strike and I cannot believe I’ve never tried it before! It is amazinnnnnng. It just glides on and you can either have it really natural or can make them super thick. Also, you get so much product it’s unbelievable and a little goes a long way! Where as the Smashbox brow product runs out quite quickly and it’s more expensive!

I also got new makeup brushes for Christmas and I was lucky enough to get the beautiful rose gold Zoeva set (£56.95). My brother got them from Love Makeup. I got the eye brushes and they are literally the best brushes I’ve ever used, they pick up so much eyeshadow and blend it so well. The brow brush teamed with the brow gel has changed my life.

I have three lipsticks that I choose between to wear every day.
The first one is Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Mauve Matte (£17). As soon as I saw this on I fell in love. It’s a nude lipstick but a little more on the pinkier side, but what I love about it is the matte finish. It lasts all day, and I mean ALL day. I can eat and drink and it’s still on, and its super moisturising. I really suffer with dry lips so matte lipsticks are normally a nightmare but this is so nourishing.

The second one is Mac’s satin finish in Faux (£15.50). Again, this is a bit pinkier but it looks good with every makeup look. It’s good to go from day to night and again doesn’t make my lips dry. It’s also really nice to top up, you don’t have to take it off to and reapply you can quickly just go over it.

And lastly, the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit in Candy K. I did originally purchase both Candy K and Dolce K but I was really not that fussed on Dolce K. It came out really dark on my lips and I was really not feeling it! Anyway, the Candy K is the PERFECT colour, it really is a dream. And the matte finish is just to die for. However, it’s not really as long lasting as I was expecting from a liquid lipstick, and after about half an hour to an hour it goes really dry and almost bitty on the lips. And this is definitely a lipstick you need to take off to top up. On the plus side, it just glides off so it’s still pretty easy to reapply.

L-R = Faux, Cherish, Mauve Matte

You are probably sick of seeing this but it truly is a must have for foundation wearers/eyeshadow wearers/or anyone who wants a pick me up.

MAC FIX+. (£17)

I am so obsessed with this! I cannot live without it, I spray this all over my face after I’ve applied my moisturiser and primer and in the morning it is SOOOO good! It just wakes you up and makes you feel like a new woman! If I’m ever working with glitter eyeshadows I will spray it on my brush as it allows a lot more product to go on your eyelid and it also prevents a lot of fall out! I also spray this on my beauty blender and on my foundation brush. If you don’t have this in your makeup bag you need to get it! I promise you won’t regret it. The one thing I don’t do is spray it after my makeup to set it, I find spraying it before applying foundation works a lot better for me.

And lastly, my finishing powder. Ever since trying this I can’t imagine using anything else, and it is the Smashbox Halo Hydrating Powder (£31) and I use shade light/medium. It’s a mineral foundation but can also be used as a setting powder. It has 48 minerals including pure gold and is so beautiful on the skin. Because it’s hydrating its super soft and just leaves your skin feeling nourished and radiant. A little goes a long way so even though it is a pricier powder it lasts a long time and you can also wear it on its own if you want something lighter.

If you’ve tried any of these products or have any products that you can’t live without please comment down below and I will give them a try!
