In December 2015 I chopped off 15 inches of my hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust. They are a charity that provides wigs for free to little girls (and boys) suffering with cancer. I was definitely extremely nervous as I had never gone through such a big change with my hair before, and we all know how attached we get, but knowing that it was going to make someone else happy forced me to do it.
After such a huge change I needed to find new products that helped me style it and keep it looking health
1. Bumble and Bumble invisible oil – £33
So this product I was using before I had the chop but I dont think I will ever stop now. It reduces frizz, tames any fly aways, detangles and strengthens hair against breakage. I use one pump of this on wet hair and it helps detangle any knots and I honestly think this is what keeps my hair super super healthy and what has helped it grow so much.
2. Bed head small talk
This is a thickifier and energizer. It helps add thickness, texture and volume. It really helps my hair hold styling as well, again I only use one pump on wet hair.
3. Bumble and bumble dry spun -£22
This is one of the best texturising sprays I’ve ever used. Its so good for adding thickness and texture, and it smells amazing which is a bonus.
4. Bumble and bumble spray de mode – £22
This hair spray combines flexible hold, heat protection and added shine. One of the best hair sprays ive used to hold styling in my super straight hair.
5. Ojon rare tame blender – £12.50
This is my absoloute HERO product, I could NOT live without this. If you’re like me and suffer with baby hair (or flyaways) you need this in your life!! This is an oil that you comb through the flyaways and it lays them down and holds it all day along with encouraging growth. Even when my hair was long my baby hairs were crazy so when ever I had my hair in a pony tail it was never neat. This changed my life haha! The rare tame blender is also a must have for a super sleek pony!
I have 3 favourite foundations, but I mostly only stick to one. I am so converted by this foundation and I cannot believe I hadn’t tried it sooner. I have been missing out BIG time, and if you haven’t tried it yet then so are you! And it is SMASHBOX’S STUDIO SKIN!!
Smashbox – studio skin.
The studio skin is a 15-hour wear foundation with a medium to full coverage. It is buildable but you really can get it FULL if you want to. However, it’s really lightweight which I love because I can’t feel it on my skin. It is also super hydrating and oil free (and oil controlling), meaning it’s perfect for people with both oily or dry skin. It’s a semi-matte, skin like finish. So not too shiny and not too matte, just very natural. You can either set it with powder or setting spray or leave it on its own as it is self-setting. It’s also water, sweat, humidity, and transfer resident.
What I adore about this foundation is it really is 15 hour (maybe longer). I wore this foundation whilst I was in Ibiza and I wore it day and night and when I left the clubs it looked like I had just applied it and being out in the heat it did not move or melt off, and cause it’s so light weight I didn’t feel masked or like my skin couldn’t breathe. I get so many compliments on my skin when I’m wearing this and I love that I can trust it will stay looking like this all day. I can’t really see myself moving from this foundation any time soon.
The only downfall to this foundation is that the colours are yellow undertoned so for anyone pink or neutral undertones you might struggle to find a colour match. And the darker skin tones also as they don’t have an extensive colour range, although they are rumoured to be expanding their colour range!!
This is my make up look today wearing the Smashbox Studio Skin and Candy K by Kylie Jenner liquid lipstick
Estee Lauder – double wear
I feel like this foundation will be on most people’s lists. Again this foundation is 15-hour wear but is a full coverage (according to the website medium, I disagree) with a matte finish. It is also lasts through heat, humidity and non-stop activity.
This foundation is amazing, it covers everything you want it to and more and will not budge. The colour range is brilliant and when I’m a bit paler I will sometimes turn to this. However, I don’t particularly like how matte it is and I do feel like it is heavy on my skin. It also leaves me with a ‘flashback face’ in pictures so I do tend to avoid this on any nights out.
Make Up Forever – Ultra HD
Make Up Forever ultra HD
Ultra HD is a medium to full buildable coverage that is light-weight and long lasting. It is designed for film and TV but is good for on and off camera. I’ve only just recently tried this foundation after reading a lot of good reviews about it, and I prefer it to the Double Wear but it does for sure not beat my Smashbox Studio Skin. I LOVE how this foundation goes on, it literally glides on and sinks into the skin and you really don’t need to work it because it does it its self and the colour I’ve got is perfect for when I’m not tanned which is something I struggle with with Studio Skin, but I feel like it doesn’t last as long and does not stay flawless all day. It does get a little patchy which I don’t get with both Studio Skin and Double Wear. It does offer 40 different shades however and the shade I got matches beautifully.
So they are my three current favourite foundations although you are probably thinking I really only have one haha!
If you have any recommendations please post them down below and I will be sure to give them a try 🙂
